Privacy policy
Last updated: 26 August 2026
This explains what personal data The Planning Enforcement Advisory collects through this website, why, and what your rights are. It applies to planningenforcementadvisory.co.uk only, not to any advice or documents you send us once you've instructed us: that's covered separately in our engagement terms.
Who we are
The Planning Enforcement Advisory ("we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
What we collect
We only collect what you give us directly, through the contact form or the booking enquiry form:
- Your name, email address and (optionally) phone number.
- What you tell us about your situation, e.g. property postcode, whether you've received a notice, any deadline, and a description of what's happened.
- Any file you choose to attach, such as a scanned notice or letter.
- If you accept analytics cookies, anonymised usage data about how you use the site (see our cookies page).
Why we use it
We use your enquiry details for one purpose: to understand your situation and respond to you, and, if you go on to instruct us, to provide advice. We rely on legitimate interest to respond to enquiries, and on consent for anything analytics-related. We don't use your details for marketing, and we don't sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run this site, each acting as our data processor:
- Resend: delivers enquiry emails from the contact and booking forms to our inbox.
- Google reCAPTCHA: checks form submissions aren't automated spam; Google processes some technical data (e.g. IP address, browser signals) for this. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Analytics: only runs if you accept analytics cookies; provides aggregated, anonymised statistics on site usage.
- Vercel: hosts the website itself.
International transfers
Some of the providers above (Resend, Google, Vercel) may process data on servers outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on their standard contractual clauses or equivalent UK-approved safeguards for the transfer.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and, if we act for you, for a further period afterwards to meet our professional record-keeping obligations. Enquiries we don't hear back on are deleted periodically.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your data, or restrict how we use it, in some circumstances.
- Move your data to another organisation (data portability), where technically possible.
- Stop processing your data based on legitimate interest, or withdraw consent for analytics at any time. See our cookies page.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, contact us first using the details below. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update.
